  • Meeting with West Valley Police Chief Lee Russo

This last Wednesday night, the newly-appointed Police Chief Lee Russo came to speak at West Side Matters.  West Side Matters is a group comprised of residents that live on the "West Side" of the Salt Lake valley.  We discuss issues that are most relevant to, and try to make a difference for, those who live, work and raise their families on the West Side.

Thanks to Chief Russo for speaking.  It was great to hear his vision for the WVC police force, and to ask him questions.  Thanks to all who came!

  • Town Hall Meeting with Granite School District Superintendent Bates

On Thursday, the Superintendent of Granite School District, Dr. Martin Bates held a Town Hall meeting at Granger High School which I attended.  Also present was Jerry Haslam, the principal at Granger High School.  It was great conversation, that included topics such as graduation rates, student curriculum, problems with truancy, making accommodations for students with disabilities, how to give appropriate attention to the highest achieving students, how it's going with 9th grade being incorporated inside the high school, etc.  Helping to create a first-class education system for our students continues to be a priority for me.  I am personally invested in this issue, as all of my school-aged children attend West Side public schools.

Thanks again to Superintendent Bates for coming to Granger High School to address our concerns and answer our questions!
